I am Gavril and grew up in the coldest city of the world, Yakutsk. I am a photographer and visual storyteller currently based in the United States. My background is rooted in linguistics, cultural studies, and media practice, which strongly influences the way I approach image making.
My work focuses on identity, representation, and the relationship between people, culture, and environment. I am interested in how visual narratives shape the way individuals and communities are seen, especially within contemporary social and media spaces.
Alongside photography, I have conducted academic research in literature and cultural studies, exploring concepts of identity and beauty in Turkic traditions. This research continues to inform my visual practice, allowing my work to move between observation, documentation, and reflection.
When I am not working on projects, I spend time developing personal field research, writing Field Notes, and exploring new environments through photography.
