Masquerade Soiree, Syracuse, NY
This project documents a social event as a temporary media environment shaped by light, sound, costume, and collective interaction. Shot in Syracuse, New York, the work examines how visual elements influence perception and behavior within a shared space. Photography is used to observe how atmosphere functions as a form of communication.
The images focus on gesture, movement, and self-presentation. Masks and performative details create a visual system where identity becomes fluid and situational. The project explores how individuals navigate visibility and presence when visual codes replace everyday norms.
Masquerade Soiree considers event photography as a form of media practice rather than simple documentation. The project reflects on how social gatherings operate as constructed visual experiences, where design, performance, and participation shape meaning in real time.
