Reframing Beauty
This project examines contemporary perceptions of female beauty through portrait photography. The work focuses on how women shape their visual identity in everyday life, negotiating personal expression, cultural background, and social expectations. Each portrait is created through dialogue, allowing the subject to take part in how she is represented.
The project emphasizes gaze, posture, and self-presentation as central elements of identity. Rather than directing the subject into fixed roles, the photographic process prioritizes presence and intention. The camera becomes a space of collaboration where individuality emerges through subtle gestures and expression.
Reframing Beauty I questions dominant visual standards and proposes alternative ways of seeing beauty. The series highlights beauty as a lived and evolving experience shaped by choice, confidence, and context. Through portraiture, the project invites viewers to reflect on how representation influences the way women are seen and how they choose to be seen.
